People opposed edit

  Oppose this is covered by Wikibooks, Wiktionary, Wikiversity, Wikipedia, and more. Dronebogus (talk) 06:09, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  Weak oppose per Dronebogus.
I think it's a really neat idea, even if it is covered by existing projects.
Maybe it could be like an interwiki Wikiproject, because while these topics are covered, they aren't nearly covered enough. QuickQuokka [talkcontribs] 20:08, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose per Dronebogus. As a language enthusiast, I'm really glad to see someone interested to devote their time in language preservation. However, looking at the proposed functions of this project, all of them can be done in existing projects:
    Dictionaries of endangered languages - Wiktionary;
    Grammar and Sentence Structure - Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikiversity;
    Lessons For Beginners - Wikibooks
    Interactive Language Maps - Wikicommons
    Maybe consider participating in WikiProjects in the respective sites, like en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Endangered languages.
    Also, if you speak an endangered language (or any language for that matter), you can contribute to Lingua Libre by recording yourself reading words. It is is also a Wikimedia project. Jonashtand (talk) 18:25, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
