Wikipedia is being used by student community to a very good extent. The school students community not only uses Wikipedia, but also could contribute to it. This includes Local Mapping and contribution of pictures of local importance. School students in their day to day life, goes through a variety of knowledge streams through their study. As a section of Wikipedia users, who are thinking of various types of knowledge, we could approach knowledge in a comprehensive manner. We could better realize the advantages and shortcomings of wiki-movements and its contents.
In India, a large section of students having their study through the medium of local languages. They could not depend in the same scale as that by English medium students. Relatively lower contents in local language Wikipedia is the reason for the same. This builds up a gap in knowledge availability among student community. Hence the contents in local language Wikipedia has to be increased.
Here, this 30 minutes long presentation explains the experience of school students community with Wikipedia. This presentation submits few proposals as well to achieve a better utilisation of Wikipedia by student community.
