Regarding the research: "Exploring editing dynamics in different language Wikipedias – Towards a substantive grounded theory edit

Dear Pbilic, I am glad to communicate on this topic but I have some questions I need answers to before continuing. In your research description when dealing with potential benefits of the research you mention upgrading rules and policies: which rules and policies do you think need upgrading? And why? Also when talking about better mediating the situations in case of conflictive and contested topic, do you have some particular individuals in mind when you think that mediation in any such situation wasn't good enough? --79.175.105.51 22:20, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for your questions. Our interest in this topic is purely academic. However, given the fact that cross-wiki qualitative research on contested topics has not been conducted previously, Wikimedia communities may find our results useful. We will not be providing any recommendations for changing the rules and policies, nor single out individuals since that would be highly unethical (please read our informed consent form and AOIR ethics guidelines for more details). Improving policies is the task of the communities, not ours. Our only goal is to shed more light on what goes on in these specific cases by following well-established social science methodologies. I hope that answers your questions. If you want to participate, or if you have further questions, you can also reach us at interwikiresearch@gmail.com. Cordially, Pbilic (talk) 10:26, 7 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
