xwiki abuse edit

Hi. I saw through the abuse filters that you are getting some abuse at other wikis. If you are copping that at wikis where you are simply doing spam and COI editing, then please let me know. I have an abuse filter that we can utilise to essentially add protection at those wikis without romping around to each. Ping if there is some value for you, just tell me which are your home wikis and I will exclude those.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:10, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Billinghurst: Hello, I already have my user (talk) pages semi-protected at Japanese Wiktionary and English Wikiversity, so your abuse filter should exclude those projects. My home wiki is simplewiki but another user suggested to me to consider protection so I think this can also be included to your abuse filter. MathXplore (talk) 10:19, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
For the home wiki, I exclude it as a matter of course as that should be managed normally in consultation with admins and the normal processes and tools. It is more that we are looking to slow down the user and user talk pages at wikis where you are not typically having conversations. Anyway, we are off and running, so if you are getting bother on user or user talk pages around the traps, then please let me know, and I can review the filters.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 27 August 2023 (UTC)  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:36, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, thank you very much for the reactions. MathXplore (talk) 11:40, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

title blacklisted your username edit

As I see that the LTA is trying to play with your username, I have added that with some variation to title blacklist. This will not stop your current account from having new accounts at new wikis, it will stop your creating similarly named accounts matching the regex. If there is an issue where you need a bot or test account, then admins at any wiki can force through an account name on your behalf.  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:41, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ja term preferable edit

Thank you so much contributing to en-ja translation: how about membership put as "参加者" (ja), what do you think? Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 06:48, 4 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thank you for the contact. I think your idea is OK, but please allow me to explain what I thought before. I usually translated membership as "会員権". But I thought that "会員権" may imply payments or paid qualifications, and I considered that this may not be compatible with the context of Wikimedia projects, a free volunteer community. Generally, I recognize the usage of Katakana descriptions as an acceptable translation method. I would also like to note that "メンバーシップ" is included in 明鏡国語辞典 Version 3, possibly well-known borrowed term. On the other hand, "参加者" has wider recognition than "メンバーシップ" (some other dictionaries I had did not include "メンバーシップ"), so today I believe that "参加者" is a preferable term. Again, thank you for the notice and translation reviews. MathXplore (talk) 10:05, 4 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
