Translation combination boxes edit

The following text was copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translator, it may be of any interest to you:

Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).

Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.

Thank you :)

選挙の翻訳 edit

Aphaia です。たぶんはじめまして。選挙関連の翻訳ではお世話になっています。

お手すきの折に、ja:Wikipedia:2006年ウィキメディア財団理事の選挙も見ていただければ幸いです。ほぼ出来上がっていると思うのですが、どなたかに見ていただいてからこちらに移せればと思っておりますので。

お忙しいところ恐縮ですが、よろしくご高配ください。--Aphaia 13:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

ご連絡いただき、ありがとうございます。ja:Wikipedia:2006年ウィキメディア財団理事の選挙の査読の件は、了解しました。ところで、選挙監理委員などまだ日本語版のないものがあるように見受けられますが、テンプレートを日本語版へのリンクが可能なようにしていただけると幸いです。プログラムに関することは疎いので、勝手ながらお願いできれば助かります。--Bletilla 13:36, 12 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

--Ninomy 06:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

P.S.Election translations 2006/Jaも翻訳いたしました。査読していただければと思います。--Ninomy 06:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

ありがとうございます。後ほど目を通して起きます。多少手直しをする場合もあり得ますが、その際はあしからず御了解ください。--Bletilla 07:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
いえいえ。お手数かけましてすみません。立候補者の翻訳も後ほどやってみることにします。また、現在Election FAQ 2006/Jaを翻訳しておりますが、力不足なもので、訳ができなかったところもあります。力をお貸しください。--Ninomy 08:14, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Election candidates 2006/En の revert edit

--Aphaia 10:58, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

ご連絡、ありがとうございます。また勇み足をしてしまったようで大変御迷惑をおかけしました。「またリバートした後で、」の段は、今後の参考にいたしたいと思います。(m(__)m)--Bletilla 02:27, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

--Aphaia 09:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

一言で言えば「簡潔」です。その他には特に理由はありません。--Bletilla 11:29, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
追記です。文章の翻訳が多いので、「である・だ」で終える形に慣れていたこともあるかと思います。--Bletilla 01:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
--Ninomy 02:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
そうですね。今は「です・ます」が一般的ですから、そちらの方向で統一を図って構わないと思います。余談ですが、「亡くなられる」という本来ならおかしな敬語が罷り通る時代になってしまってもいますが。--Bletilla 12:04, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
「お亡くなりになる」ですね ;) 分かりました、適宜敬体にすることにします。--Ninomy 12:23, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

A belated thanks .. edit

.. for helping to translate my Board election statement. The amount of multilingual activity in Wikimedia never ceases to amaze me, and I think we can do much more to support translation efforts throughout the Foundation. For example, on the technical level, I believe in interfacing with computer-aided translation tools such as the open source utility Omega-T (to make it easier to translate only the changes in the new version of a document), and to build multilingual discussion support into MediaWiki. (I've authored the specifications for LiquidThreads, which is being implemented as a Summer of Code project by David McCabe, and the Multilingual MediaWiki specs, which are going to be coded by Charles Pritchard with support from the University of Bamberg and Wikia.) It would also be neat to support open source machine translation efforts like Apertium, and to integrate those with MediaWiki.

I also believe that the next-generation dictionary, WiktionaryZ, will help with internationalization efforts. On the social level, we need to build organizational structures which take multilinguality into account, i.e. support local chapters, and bring translators into the Foundation-level processes. One final idea I have is to build a translation assignment management system, so we can easily manage and prioritize the translation tasks that need to be done, and notify translators when a document is ready for translation. If you have other ideas for improving and supporting multilinguality in our projects, please let me know at User talk:Eloquence. Again, thanks for your translation, and please keep up the great work!--Eloquence 21:26, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Bletilla. If some projects are missing, that is no problem. The important this is, that now you have a unified login. I removed the notice from your candidacy page; you are now eligible to candidate for stewardship. Good luck! --Church of emacs talk 14:27, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Translator, We need you! edit

Dear Bletilla,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.

Many Thanks

Research project relating to the Wikimedia Strategy Process edit

Dear Bletilla,

My name is Gordon Mueller-Seitz and my colleague, Leonhard Dobusch, and I are currently engaged in a research project relating to the Wikimedia Strategy Process that took place in 2009-2010. Our key interest is to explore how this strategy process actually unfolded.

In this connection, we started with interviewing WM personnel and promoters such as Eugene Kim in a first step. By now we want to broaden our insights in a second step and we would like to kindly inquire if it was possible to make a short telephone interview with you concerning the WM strategy process? If yes, we would very appreciate it if you could suggest a date/time that would suit you and the telephone number we could reach you from April onwards.

Thank you very much for a brief reply. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
Gordon and Leonhard

Salam Bletilla. Sizi stüard seçkisində sonadək iştirak etməyiniz münasibətilə səmimi qəlbdən təbrik edirəm. Doğrudur, nəticə uğursuz oldu. Amma uğursuzluq özü də bir uğurdur. Your comments are invited on four current FDC proposals edit

Hello! As you may know, we've opened the community review period for the current funding round in the Funds Dissemination Committee process. I noticed that in the past you expressed interest in the FDC, since you were a nominee for the committee. I'd like to invite you to review the 4 proposals (totaling $1.3 million USD) that were submitted to the FDC, and to ask questions and share comments about those proposals. You can help to ensure that they have high potential for impact regarding the movement's goals. The FDC especially values comments by community members and will take them into account when they prepare their recommendations. Let me know if you have any questions! --Katy Love, Senior Program Officer, Funds Dissemination Committee, Wikimedia Foundation, 22:36, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

English/Japanese translations edit

Dear Bletilla, I am contacting you to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Robell and I have recently joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a part of the fundraising team. My work will be focused to a large extent around translations. I am very interested in finding engaged Wikipedians, such as yourself, who would be interested in contributing with their time to translate shorter text from English to Japanese. A warm thank you for your contributions you have made so far! We will continue using the translation extension for this purpose. We have for example recently posted a 'Thank you letter' from the Wikimedia Foundation's ED Sue Gardner using the translation extension. You can find the letter here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Fundraising%2FTranslation%2FThank+you+email+20131202&language=ja&filter=translated&action=translate I would highly appreciate your help to translate/proofread this letter in order to develop a quality translation in Japanese.

In addition to using the translation extension, my aim is to develop a few personal contacts to whom I can reach out with potential questions regarding a particular word choice etc. As an engaged Wikipedia translator, I would be very interested in hearing your view on this.

Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Jessica Robell

wiki terminology at Interim_Global_Council/ja edit

Hello, hard working spirit. you won't mind updating your thesauri please? I am updating Interim_Global_Council/ja, and wish your attention on [[$MC|Movement Charter]] is not 支部 or local group, it is about Charter, 憲章.
