I started editing Wikipedia in 2005. Like many other editors, I got started fixing a typographical error on one of the pages I happened to stumble upon.

Since then, I've seen Wikipedia go from ignored by the media, to criticized by the media, to a cultural phenomenon.

I've seen our number of articles more than triple to almost 3.5 million.

I've seen the public's perception of us change from "that's a cute little project, but it will never work" and "there's no way all that information can be accurate" to a trusted source of knowledge.

Wikipedia is one of the ten most visited websites in the world, and the only one funded by members of the public like you. Please consider donating to the Wikimedia Foundation so that projects like Wikipedia can keep growing.
