Carbon neutral? edit

Will the conference and the flights to it be carbon neutral? -- Jeandré, 2007-12-23t16:18z

Isolation edit

Relative to most Wiki-contributors, Kathmandu is a fairly isolated place. For instance, from Cape Town to Kathmandu would set someone back $US3000, and from where I am at the moment in Melbourne, I'd have to spend $3155 for the roundtrip. This may put the location beyond the means of all but wealthy Wikimedians. How does this bid intend to address this? MichelleG 09:58, 30 December 2007 (UTC).Reply

Wikimedia is a world-wide event, and every single possible location will be expensive for the majority of contributors. There is nothing to do to avoid this, short of moving all Wikimedians to the same country (...). This is the major reason why we have scholarships for Wikimania, to help people who can’t afford the expensive trip themselves to get there. (The scholarships only cover the travelling fees.) Chapter support? edit

Is this bid officially supported by a local chapter (or future chapter)? Angela 03:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Number of people involved? edit

How many people are actively working on this bid? Has there ever been a meetup of Wikimedians in this city? If so, what is the average number of attendees? Angela 03:46, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
