Talk:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Muscogee Wikipedia

Correction edit

The discussion on closing the Muskogee Wikipedia includes a factual error: Muskogee is in fact a single language, not a family of languages. The language is Muskogee; the family is Muskogean (including Choctaw, Chickasaw, and others). It's like the distinction between the German language and the Germanic language family.

The point is not material to the decision to close the wiki, but I did not want to see the error promulgated, if it could be avoided. I was also concerned that the error might cause unnecessary resistance to relaunching this wiki in the future, when there is an interested base of Muskogee speakers.

Muskogee is spoken by Creek Indians of Oklahoma and Alabama. It is almost identical with Seminole, spoken in Oklahoma and Florida. More information is available at the Creek Language Archive. — Alarob 21:36, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

  1.   Oppose If there is at least one article in a wiki and try to delete it, that means we are throwing some knowledge in other language to the dustbin and if a language exsits, then we are giwing offer an insult to that language!--§Triple.Rhu 12:32, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
