This is a proposal for a new Wikimedia sister project.

ReasonWhy not use Wikipedia to describe it? This is far too specific for a project. We don't have projects for countries, let alone towns with population 9,375. Use Wikipedia/Wikivoyage or create a local wiki for your town on your own server. PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:12, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  1.   Strong oppose - far too specific for a Wikimedia project. Would suggest expanding w:Penig; it needs expansion. If you insist on having a wiki for a small town, try Wikia. --Jakob (Scream about the things I've broken) 00:17, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There could be hundreds of pages. The shortness of the enWP-page is no reason for a contra - its a german city. The wiki could be as big as other city-wikis. --Wahlpeniger (talk) 01:41, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Penig appears to be a town with 9000 people. There are tens of thousands of such towns -- it would be ridiculous to spend the Wikimedia Foundation's money for 10,000 wikis on small towns. Furthermore, most Wikimedia projects have tens or hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pages. I can't support a project proposal if it doesn't have potential for at least 10,000 pages. If you have something encyclopedic to write about Penig, put it here (or here if your first language is German). Or create a wiki at http://www.wikia.com. --Jakob (Scream about the things I've broken) 18:30, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You should create your own wiki, like other citywikis/Stadtwikis. No need for a Wikimedia project for this really. PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:25, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
