Nigerian Orphanages

Introduction edit

Nigerian Orphanages is one of our drives to improve Nigerian contents and increase Wikidata's participation in our community. The project focuses on training all interested persons on how to add content on Wikidata but most importantly, this project is an edit-a-thon/trainig project targeted at improving/increasing the number of Nigerian Orphanages on wikidata's database as well as recruit and engage editors.

Scope of Work edit

  • Training: Collation of resources for training design and launch of program dashboard for measuring project metrics, communication channel and design of project landing page (Meta). This particular version of the project consist of a days series of offline hands-on training. Details of focused areas are listed in the table below.
  • Mentorship: Attending to questions/feedback from participants, tracking of items, review.

Live(online) Training

  • Let the edit-a-thon begin


11th and 12th May 2023 Participants will be engaged in live(online) training sessions ( hands-on) Duration (1hr) per session. sessions pictures will be uploaded and made available on the landing page
Mentorship Class
  • Attending to feedbacks from students.
  • Allocation of assignment to students.
11th May - 14th May 2023 The following modules are expected to be covered:
  • What is Wikidata / wikimedia movement
  • Adding Contents to Wikidata
  • Uses Wikidata / introduction to Edit-a-thon(items creation)
Edit-a-thon
  • New editors to create their accounts on or before the event ( if it has not been earlier created)
  • Participants to sign up to the event dashboard
11th May. - 14th May. 2022
  • At least contents on 300 Nigerian Orphanages will be added/improved upon on Wikidata
