Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Krishna Chaitanya Velaga/MOC 2017 Edit-a-thon/Report

Hi Krishna Chaitanya Velaga. Thank you for this grant report and congrats on a successful event. It's great to hear that you were able to organize a second session within the budget in order to follow-up on the initial training session. We've found that single intro sessions are very limited in terms of how much new editors can learn and absorb. Having a series of trainings over a short period seems to work much better for both skill building as well as building community around contributing to the Wikimedia projects. What kind of follow-up and support have you done with the participants? What kind of collaboration with Toastmasters do you think is possible in the future? Please also be sure to specify what the miscellaneous expenses were in your budget table. Thanks! Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 20:04, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@AWang (WMF): Greetings Alex, thanks for reviewing the report. Yes, from this project I've learnt that series of sessions (at least two) in short period will be effective. I've been in contact with the participants and about twenty of them are interested in forming a formal WikiClub with an official trademark, similar VVIT WikiClub. Once again, I want to stress the new affiliate mode of "WikiClub" at college level. I wish WMF takes a note on this, and forwards it to the AffCom for consideration. The outcomes of collaboration with Toastmasters from this project are; BVRIT, the college in which held our sessions, is ready to give us venue for workshops related to Wikimedia movement in Hyderabad. Also similar options may be considered for Indian School of Business for much larger conferences or meet-ups. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 12:43, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Miscellaneous expenses are unaccounted expenses as mentioned i.e. expenses for which I am not able produce bills (below $20). Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talkmail) 16:01, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
