Grants talk:Project/Rapid/InFormAzioni/Wiki Loves Earth Italy 2019/Report

Report accepted edit

Hello CristianNX, thanks for submitting this final report and for running the Wiki Loves Earth contest in Italy. Even though you have not reached the initial targets, it seems that the contest has been overall successful and efficient with lots of quality images. I have reviewed your report and have some comments that I would like you to address.

  • I really like your organized and structured approach to the contest. You have mentioned in the report that you had uploaded the databases from the Ministry of Environment, Regions and Provinces to Wikidata. Could you please elaborate on who has made the data migration? What was the license this data has been initially available under?
  • Have you organized any activities to increase the usage of images on other Wikimedia projects?
  • Congratulations on so many amazing images! I noted that one of the photos won the 15/16th prize worldwide in Wiki Loves Earth 2019. That’s wonderful!

Thank you again for your hard work in this project and for your contributions to the Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata! We confirm that the remaining funds have been returned to WMF. We accept your final report and expense documentation marking this grant as complete. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:37, 6 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for the compliments and for your comments. To answer your questions:
  • the "migration" was a two-step job: first of all we searched data from the different databases, and from that we created an ordered and useful csv that then we uploaded on Wikidata, both manually and via QuickStatements.
  • the data were under free licence: for example the Ministry of Environment release his data with a CC-BY 4.0 licence and the European Union (that provides the data for Natura2000) has the same licence.
  • we didn't organized an open event to increase the usage of images, but at the end of the contest I, Civvì and Yiyi added the P18 property to all the areas that were without images on Wikidata but had received images during the contest.
Thank you again for all. At the next opportunity for collaboration. --CristianNX (talk) 08:52, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
