Report accepted and comments edit

Hi Hadassahlove, thanks for submitting this final report! I’m glad to accept it with the following comments:

  • We greatly appreciate your work! I imagine that it might have been challenging for you to run this event and I value your commitment! I agree that it's really important to offer space for queer persons to contribute about Nigerian LGBT+ persons.
  • I’m sorry to hear that many participants were harassed and intimidated. But I’m happy that the Trust and Safety team provided support during this event. If it doesn’t violate anyone's privacy, I’d like to learn if you faced challenges on different Wikipedias when editing?
  • Thanks for creating a comprehensive project page. In your opinion, what motivated participants to participate in this contest?
  • Could you also share why online meetings were not so effective as in-person ones?

Thanks again for your work and dedication. Kudos to you and the organizing team! This final report is accepted which means that the grant is now formally marked as ‘completed’. Wishing you all the best, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:40, 7 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Response edit

Thank you DSaroyan (WMF) for taking time to review & accept the report and most especially for the kind words and your support all through the grant process... Below are my responses to some of your comments:

  • As regard if we face challenges on different Wikipedias when editing?: The major challenge we faced was on some Nigerian local languages Wikipedia who didn't want LGBT+ content translated in their wikis but that was fixed and also lot of notability issues on the English wiki which include accusation of suck puppetry by a certain English editor because of so much interest to create Nigerian LGBT+ pages.
  • Basically, I think what motivated participants in this contest is due to many reasons: First, the opportunity to bridge gap in a minority topics that the Nigeria community didn't put attention to, Secondly, the prizes was also a great motivator and lastly the article list segment here proved very useful for participants.
  • The Online meetings wasn't as effective compare to in-person ones because it was difficult to monitor the participants attention, they (participants) had divided/competing interest during the session, some couldn't keep up with the session time due to work or power and most importantly poor Internet connectivity during the online meeting made it ineffective aswell.

Once again, thanks to you and the Rapid Grant Team for the support; me and my team dearly appreciate. Hadassahlove (talk) 01:03, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
