Endorsment from Bembety (talk) edit

--Bembety (talk) 19:52, 24 December 2023 (UTC) This project aims to enhance the visibility and recognition of Wikipedia and its associated projects among a diverse audience. By engaging various individuals, the goal is to foster widespread awareness and advocacy within the community, ultimately leading to increased popularity and promotion of these projects.Reply

Endorsment from El-hussain14 (talk) edit

Indeed this is a great project which can enable the students of Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLU) learn about how to create Wikipedia articles as well as other wikimedia projects and how to edit them. However, by so doing more wikimedia projects contributors would be recruited and guided on how to contribute. I do strongly support this program.

Review of team's Wikidata experience edit

As this proposal specifically mentions Wikidata, I have performed a review of the team's experience and record on that project:

  •   Neutral Dranty18 has no Wikidata experience.
  •   Oppose Mamman AA has substantial Wikidata experience, especially in the creation of Lexemes. Unfortunately, despite repeated feedback, they continually make the same type of error. It does not appear that they have ever responded to any feedback. People make mistakes, but to keep making the same mistake month after month, and to refuse to communicate is not acceptable. As a result of this review, I have blocked this user indefinitely until they are willing to communicate. I note that they are also indefinitely blocked at ENWP. I cannot endorse this user as a Wikidata trainer.
  •  ? I cannot find a user account for Ardido Ardake.
  •   Neutral Fulani215 has only limited experience on Wikidata.
  •   Neutral El-hussain14 has a moderate amount of Wikidata experience and, apart from creating a couple of empty items, a clean record.

In summary, no-one in this team has significant Wikidata experience except for one who is now blocked. This fails to demonstrate that this team will be effective in leading a Wikidata-related project. Bovlb (talk) 20:38, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

After double-checking, I see that Mamman AA's user page was redirecting to that of the non-user "MammanAA". As this might explain why they have not been receiving notifications, I have unblocked and will monitor. Notwithstanding, their continual errors and ENWP block are still not a good indication. Thank you for your Feedback,
  • Mamman AA is the facilitator that is responsible for training our participants on Wikidata and anything related to that.
  • Fulani215 is responsible for guiding the participants on how to create account, creating articles, adding a reference from a reliable source and any other things related to Wikipedia.
  • El-hussain14 is responsible for teaching the participants on how to upload pictures on wiki commons and any other things related to WikimediaCommons.
  • Ardiido Ardake she is responsible in organizing, coordinating things to make sure things are going as plan through out the period of the project.
I hope this explanation clearly explain the team strong connection
in carryout thiproject successful.

@Fulani215 Thanks for following up. I'll expand a little on my reasoning. In my evaluation of an editor as a potential Wikidata trainer, I consider a number of criteria:
  1. Do they have a history of abuse? Mamman AA does not have a history of abuse on Wikidata, but is indefinitely blocked on the English Wikipedia for "Disruptive editing; repeatedly creating the same article, sometimes with slightly different spellings".
  2. Do they have significant experience on Wikidata? Mamman AA has 850 edits, very few of which have been deleted.
  3. Do they have a low error rate? Mamman AA appears to have a high error rate. I assess this using several means: user talk page feedback; reverted edits; abuse filter log; and reviewing a sample of edits. Their abuse filter log is clean, but all three of the others indicate a problem.
  4. Are they responsive to feedback? So far as I can see, Mamman AA has never responded to any feedback on Wikidata, but this is complicated by the fact that another editor moved their talk page, so they may not have been receiving notifications. I fixed this two days ago, so they should now be aware, but they have not edited since.
I still think that it is a matter for concern that your only team member with Wikidata experience is disqualified from being a Wikidata trainer.
The criteria for rapid grants say, "Within the last year, applicants have not been repeatedly blocked or flagged for the same issue and/or have not been banned on the Wikimedia Projects. If a block/ban is recorded in the applicant's account history, the applicant is required to demonstrate learning and understanding in regard to the cause for the block, such that they are ready to serve as a role model for others as a grantee." It is my view that Mamman AA does not meet this criterion because they has been repeatedly flagged for the same issue on Wikidata, and are currently blocked on ENWP.
To remedy this issue, I believe you are left with two approaches:
  • Have Mamman AA clean up their record. This should include a demonstration of learning and understanding with respect to the ENWP block, response to feedback on Wikidata, and establishing a track record of editing Wikidata with a low error rate.
  • Find a better candidate for Wikidata trainer.

Thank you,
I really appreciate your efforts and your advice, I will contact the remaining team member we should see the possibility of replacing Mamman AA with another experience Wikidata trainer to avoid complications during the training. Fulani215 (talk) 18:01, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
