Feedback from the MEA Regional Funds Review Team edit

Dear Salema younus,

Thank you very much for taking the time to submit an application for this Rapid Fund cycle. We welcome your efforts and your dedication to expanding content with the focus on climate change in the Maghreb region and the Wikimedia movement more broadly. We celebrate your investment in developing content for the Libyan Wikimedia community. Please see our comments and recommendations below and respond to them on this page by Friday, May 10:

  • Collaboration with other user groups who are participating in Wiki for Climate Change. It appears that last year there was a lot of collaboration taking place between user groups across the Maghreb region. May you kindly share how you are planning on collaborating with other user groups in the Maghreb region based on learnings of the previous year, to expand the impact of the campaign and increase the quality and quantity of the contributions?
  • Clarity on activities. Is it correct that you plan on holding a webinar and an in-person event in Benghazi? Are they the same event or will they be held separately? Will the Benghazi in-person event be a hybrid event?
  • Partnership with Barah Foundation. It is great to see that the user group is benefiting from partners to support activities. May you share more on how the Foundation will be supporting your work in this upcoming project?
  • Budget-related questions. You mention in your application that you have two organizers, two members of a content team and two members of the jury for this project. However, in your budget, the compensation is for three jury members and three organizers. May you please offer more clarification on how you expect to compensate your team?
  • Growth and innovation from the previous year. What is the growth that you are expecting to see from the previous year? How has the number of participants and number of articles created changed specifically for the Libya user group activities from the previous year? Have you considered any new or innovative approaches for the campaign activities this year?

Once again, thank you for your contributions to the movement and we look forward to receiving your responses. FElgueretly-WMF (talk) 14:23, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Response from Wikimedia Libya Community team edit

Dear @User:FElgueretly-WMF and Team,

Thank you for reviewing our application. Please find below responses to the questions

QUESTION 1.Collaboration with other user groups who are participating in Wiki for Climate Change. It appears that last year there was a lot of collaboration taking place between user groups across the Maghreb region. May you kindly share how you are planning on collaborating with other user groups in the Maghreb region based on learnings of the previous year, to expand the impact of the campaign and increase the quality and quantity of the contributions?

RESPONSE 1:Yes, there was cooperation last year with user groups in the Maghreb region, and it was a rich and effective experience. This year, we also informed the followers of climate activity in the Maghreb region and informed them of our activities, and this is part of the campaign. There will also be cooperation through the contest on the Arabic Wikipedia for Maghreb environmental content, and volunteers from the Maghreb region will participate in organizing and judging.

QUESTION 2.Clarity on activities. Is it correct that you plan on holding a webinar and an in-person event in Benghazi? Are they the same event or will they be held separately? Will the Benghazi in-person event be a hybrid event?

RESPONSE 2: It is the same event (Hybrid), which will be held in person in the city of Benghazi and available online for participants from outside the city, and participants from the Maghreb region will be present by sharing the link via the campaign’s Telegram group in the Maghreb region.

QUESTION 3.Partnership with Barah Foundation. It is great to see that the user group is benefiting from partners to support activities. May you share more on how the Foundation will be supporting your work in this upcoming project?

RESPONSE 3:The Barah Foundation is a center for culture and the arts in which several activities take place simultaneously. Last year, the Foundation announced our activities through its pages on social media, and the Foundation also has participants in the activities that are held there, and this is what makes us attract attendance to our activities. The next activity will be in cooperation with an environmental organization in contact with Barah.

QUESTION 4.Budget-related questions. You mention in your application that you have two organizers, two members of a content team and two members of the jury for this project. However, in your budget, the compensation is for three jury members and three organizers. May you please offer more clarification on how you expect to compensate your team?

RESPONSE 4:The organizers of the webinar are Nanour and I; the organizers of the contest are Adel, Nada, and I; and the jury are Nanour and Ajwan.

QUESTION 5.Growth and innovation from the previous year. What is the growth that you are expecting to see from the previous year? How has the number of participants and number of articles created changed specifically for the Libya user group activities from the previous year? Have you considered any new or innovative approaches for the campaign activities this year?

RESPONSE 5:We expect an increase in awareness of climate issues related to free knowledge and an increase in the number of participants in campaign activities by writing about these topics. Last year, there was only a webinar in Benghazi, and we also had participants in the Maghreb Environment Contest, and one of them created a good number of articles.
