As I am somewhat active in Wikipedia, I support this grant, because it will contribute to training a group that can be relied upon in the future.

Endorsment from Amin Salih (talk) edit

I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation and support for the Wikimedia Libya Fund. As a passionate advocate for the free dissemination of knowledge, I truly believe in the mission and values upheld by the Wikimedia Foundation.

The efforts made by the Wikimedia Libya Fund to promote open access to information and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing within Libya are commendable. By providing a platform that allows people to contribute, edit, and access valuable content in their native language, the Fund plays a crucial role in empowering the local community and preserving their cultural heritage.

I have witnessed the transformative power of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects firsthand, and I firmly believe that making knowledge accessible to all is essential for the progress and development of any society. The work undertaken by the Wikimedia Libya Fund contributes not only to educational advancement but also to building a more inclusive and connected global community.

I am particularly impressed by the dedication and commitment of the volunteers and contributors who selflessly devote their time and expertise to curate and validate information on Wikimedia platforms. Their efforts reflect the spirit of collaboration and collective wisdom that lies at the core of Wikimedia's ethos.

Once again, thank you for your outstanding contributions to knowledge accessibility and for making a positive impact in the lives of people in Libya and beyond. Your work inspires us all to strive for a world where information is freely shared and where everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow.

Partially Funded edit

Hello Salema younus, thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 15,555.7 LYD  (3,245.00 USD) with the following recommendations:

  • It is commendable that the team is taking this initiative to work towards building a thriving community of editors in Libya. However the project plan needs to be better defined and the goals more clearly articulated. It would be good to begin with the training identified in the current plan and building some community engagement.
  • Competitions may not be the most strategic pathway for community building currently. As such we recommend the team reviews the budget costs associated with those.

Best regards, (On behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team) ~~~~ YPam (WMF) (talk) 17:00, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello YPam (WMF), Thank you for approved the rapid fund grant
Could you give us an example of grant applications (better defined and better goals), we studied the steps and defined our program well, based on previous examples, which is training and competitions.
We also started to form a community six months ago, and there are participants who participated in other competitions as well. Through this training, we can train new people and motivate those who have been present fro six months to participate in the competition.

w:en:Wikipedia:OABOT edit

I see you plan to make new users edit Wikipedia. Have you considered making them start with some assisted editing? For example OAbot is a tool to quickly edit references. It's educational on multiple fronts (templates, reliable sources, systemic bias, copyright) and can make the participants feel some sense of accomplishment quite quickly.
