Grants talk:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Rapid Fund/Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom Pilot Program in Osun (ID: 22278989)

Not Funded edit

Hello @RukayatAjeigbe thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed your grant application and decided to not fund your application at this time. Here is some feedback you might take into consideration for any future applications.

  • The proposal outlines project activities and the team's credentials which is great, however, not enough detail is provided regarding the expected impact of implementing the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom (RWIC) program in Osun State. Specify how the program will address the specific challenges faced by educators in Osun State concerning MIL skills and the use of OERs. Additionally, it will be good to provide more information on how this program goes beyond existing initiatives and brings innovative approaches to tackle these challenges.
  • The application eludes to evaluation activities but the metrics were insufficient. Beyond the numbers, how you will assess participants' understanding of Wikipedia for education, track their contributions, and evaluate the impact of the training on their teaching practices. Consider having a mix of both quantitative and qualitative methods to provide a holistic view of the  outcomes expected.
  • It is important to develop a budget that responds directly to the planned activities and ensure that budget line items are set within reason. Budget items like zoom subscriptions and internet subscriptions are typically not as high as has been budgeted. Additionally, we recommend that the team considers investing in developing e-certificates rather than physical ones.
  • Finally, campaign and organising experience is important for success in projects such as this, we recommend the team considers having someone with such experience contributing to the work. This kind of experience might enable the team to build community engagement strategies. How might you engage with the participants before, during, and after the activities. Are there methods for ongoing support, mentorship, and community building that could help ensure sustained engagement of the participants as editors.

Addressing these points will strengthen your application and provide a clearer understanding of the project's objectives, methods, and expected outcomes.
