Grants talk:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Rapid Fund/Nigerian State Legislators on Wikipedia (ID: 21916899)

Endorsment from Obihoja (talk) edit

Christian discussed the idea of this project with me and some other wikimedians and I agreed to participate especially as it relates to reaching out and discussing with members of the Conference of speakers of state legislators of Nigeria and different state assemblies. I believe that the absence of these legislators in wikipedia is a gap that needs to be filed. Since our current democracy started in 1999, many of them have been changed. with the nature of political parties now, many legislators do not stay long in parliament in Nigeria unlike in many other places. capturing and keeping this information now is necessary before it is too late. I therefore support this project.

I think that this proposal is good as it will provide important information to wikipedia. State Assembly members are important part of our democracy and should be reflected in wikipedia. I also agree that the Conference of Speakers of State Assemlies is the proper place to go to obtain quality information, pictures etc. I support

I am happy to participate in this programme. This programme will be good as it will help to get workers in these house of assemblies to be introduced to wiki projects. It will also add many content to wikipedia about members of the house of assembly from many states. With the arrangement to first meet with these houses and the conference of speakers of these houses, sufficient quality information will be ontained. I also believe that many editors will be glad to gather and do the edit a thon. I support this application.

  • 1.It is important because firstly this project is not on any Wikimedia project on Wikidata, Wikicommos and Wikipedia. The legislators play a very important role in the Nigerian government so I feel it is going to be important for the community to be given information about them from the past for history learning and the continuous present for transparency. The strategies chosen will seem to be effective cause of the integration of staff of conference of speakers and Nasarawa state house of assembly introducing them to Wikipedia and spreading the knowledge to the 36 house of assembly which is across the whole country of Nigeria and will help the staffs in creating information every time new legislators are voted in.
  • 2.The aspect of meetings and sessions with them to introduce them to Wikipedia, collect relevant publications on the legislators and engaging the community by inviting wikimedians within Nasarawa state and federal capital territory which would be a lot to edit a ton and improve content about legislators
  • 3.I feel the research on the legislators is an interesting one which most people don't know about or know little of.
  • 4.Yes i believe so
  • 5. Yes .

Nigeria has evolved since democracy and a lot of Legislators have equally been in and out of Government without any documentation of information about them, I believe this project will fill that Gap. I also feel that the strategy of collaborating with the conference of speakers of State Legislators of Nigeria is very laudable.

The plan to collaborate with actual legislators is novel and a strategic idea. I am hopeful that this will be a successful project and i am willing to volunteer my time to facilitate trainings.

Not funded edit

Hello Offordile234,

Thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.

After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:

  • While the general plan and goals are clear, the detailed activities and their impact are not clear.
  • We think that the requested budget is not aligned with the described impact. Additionally, there are some discrepancies in the budget.
  • We think that the idea of organizing 7 events for three different Wikimedia projects for the same 27 participants seems to entail risks.
  • While the applicant has organized similar activities in the past, they haven't been active on Wikidata or other Wikimedia projects since September 2021.

--Zilzy (talk) 11:41, 20 August 2022 (UTC) 1. I think this proposal is important for my community because getting the collective information we are trying to get out there will widen their knowledge on the way of succession of power, their knowledge of wikipedia and its endless oportunities and the knowledge of the socioeconomic state of the community. and yes the strategies chosen will achieve the results because the enviroment has been observed and critical assesments has been made and the conclusion is that the results will definetlry be achievedReply
