Not funded edit

Hello Abubakr1111, thank you for submitting your grant application. We appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. We are continuously strengthening our grants review process, ensuring that grant funding is being invested towards impactful projects and efforts geared towards contributing to the mission of Wikimedia Movement in the most efficient and effective manner.

After a thorough review of your application, we have decided to not fund your Rapid Fund request. Here are the main reasons for our decision:

  • Lack of capacity and coordination: The applicant or the team did not show sufficient capacity and experience on and off Wikimedia projects to run the project. We recommend gaining more experience on Wikimedia projects as a contributor and trainer of proposed projects. Some team members do not have an account on Wikimedia projects and some team members have not been notified properly.
  • Duplication of efforts: This project duplicates efforts and has overlapping activities that have already been organized or will be run in the future in another funded proposal.

In the past three Rapid Fund cycles, this is the second time we have declined funding based on similar feedback. Please take the time to incorporate the feedback given. In order to give you the time needed and to provide clarity around the requirements, you will not be eligible to apply for a Rapid Fund until Cycle 9, May 5th, and you must attend an office hour with the Program Officer in your region. You can find the schedule of the conversation hours here.

Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:58, 21 December 2022 (UTC) (on behalf of the Middle East and Africa regional funds team)Reply
