Rapid Fund Request Approved edit

Dear User:Musindi250,

Thank you for applying to the rapid fund program. We have approved funding at the amount of  3,092,000 RWF. Please see the comments below that inform the funding decision;

  • All other project supporters are new and have limited capacity for a project of this scope, and that would need a higher level of expertise. The nature of the project presented requires a deeper understanding of policies such as the Notability policy, and the editing history of some of the team members does not provide confidence in their ability to execute the project well as is. The applicant names the Africa Growth project as a source of material and expertise, and while that is great, it is important that they work on building their own experience before training others.
  • You should involve Wikimedia Rwanda UG in the planning and implementation process more actively.
  • The project needs to build a curriculum first before implementing the project, seeing that it needs to take into consideration the various learning needs of the participants of the project.
  • There is a need to perform a needs assessment, prepare a curriculum, and establish evaluation measures to support you in assessing if the project was as impactful as planned. The project will also include introducing the movement and Wikimedia projects before embarking on deeper training with the participants, especially because there is an expectation that they will edit afterwards.
  • It is unclear what editors as an output means, especially in terms of the actions they would take during and after the project. Additionally, there are other ways of tracking editor growth and retention; here is a tutorial on how to use PAWS to query retention with this template and tutorial (English. We would like you to deepen your approach to tracking retention beyond just the number of attendees.
  • The idea is worth funding to support closing knowledge gaps, especially in terms of participation- fund at a reduced amount of 3,092,000 RWF
  • In the report, please share the curriculum you used together with the tools you used to track the progress of participants in the project.
