Hello Sandra Hanbo, we appreciate the project idea and support the policy development efforts of the team and all Wikimedia groups. We also appreciate your interest in contributing to the mission of the Wikimedia Movement. However, we are not able to support this grant request for the following reasons.

• Editing and developing policies for Wikimedia projects are done predominantly by volunteers across all Wikimedia projects. Compensating someone's time spent on policy translation is equivalent to paid editing which we do not support through Wikimedia Foundation Funds. Creation of policies should be done by volunteer efforts.

There are also other aspects of the project that we found concerning.

• We do not fund projects retroactively. In this case, it seems that the project has already been launched.
• The main applicant is the primary contact and signatory for the Wikimedia Levant strategic plan for calendar year 2022-2023 General Support Fund, also working as a staff member at Wikimedians of the Levant User Group. Primary contacts for the General Support Fund applications are in most cases not eligible for individual funding.
• The project has not been discussed with the community in advance. Given the importance of the policies for the Arabic Wikimedia community, the project details, including any compensated roles, should be discussed with the community in advance, as requested in question 11. --DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:30, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
