Goals edit
Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes, We can say we are happy about how the project went. We targeted translating 100% of the most used/important mediawiki statements and creating 15 articles in the moore incubator.We have been able to translate 100% of the mediawiki statements and have created 20 new articles on the moore incubator and are still counting. We are really glad to be able to pull volunteers to work with zeal and dedication to achieving these results.
- We recruited new editors.
- We trained new editors to translate the most commonly used words in the Moore language.
- We increase skills of existing editors to improve content
- Trained members on the basics of Wikipedia.

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
Apart from the two physical training and two online training, I was able to find time to meet some of the participants one-on-one to take them through the step by step processes on how to translate the mediawiki phrases. The one-on-one meeting however, was not possible for some volunteers who stayed far away and could not attend any physical training but could squeeze time to join the online training. With those volunteers, I was able to schedule a video meeting through zoom at their convenient times to train them on the translation process, article creation and referencing. Most of the volunteers felt supported and so developed the passion of promoting their language through wikipedia and its sister projects. Due to the economic challenges the world is currently facing, the volunteers appreciated the data allowance given to them to cushion the cost of data in contributing to the project.
- What did not work so well?
It is very difficult having all the volunteers to join a scheduled meeting at a time. The reason being that each of the volunteers have their own schedules. It is therefore very difficult to be able to estimate the number of participants who could make it for an online training. Moreso, internet instability is also a challenge. Online meetings could be postponed a number of times due to network challenges. This could reduce the interest of joining the meeting whenever it is organized. Last but not least, organizing volunteers to passionately contribute to projects of this sort is not an easy one. Taking time out of one’s busy schedule to organize and speak to the minds of volunteers to stand up for the promotion of their language is a task that cannot be underestimated. Participants also sparing their busy or leisure time for voluntary work is also to be recommended.
- What would you do differently next time?
Some of the participants needed child care support in order to squeeze time for the project, next time, I will consider supporting the hardworking volunteers with child care support. I will next time find an appropriate medium (social media and local media) to advocate for the project to bring more people on deck for smooth execution of the project. A lot of people misconstrue our activities as online marketing platforms or network business as such they pay less attention to our advocacy. I would spend some time on advocacy and sensitizing the Moore community on the need to be part of promoting our mother tongue.
