Grants:Project/Rapid/Biplab Anand/Wikipedia Education program in Rajbiraj/Report

Goals

edit

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes, we have successfully met all of the mentioned goals of this project. The project went very long because of the COVID-19 pandemic and we are delayed to submit the final project report on the mentioned date. During the pandemic, we are fully dependent on educational institutions. It was quite hard to convince the administration of the educational institutions because they also have a target to finish the academic curriculum on time and organize the exams for students. We met around 200 students from 4 different colleges and 5 different education streams of Rajbiraj. We started our project by completing Wikipedia Training on day one and Wikipedia Orientation Workshop on the second day. After carrying the first two events on Mission College we have to stop our project because of Government health protocols.

After the reduction of COVID cases, we started our projects in two more colleges taking all the health safety measures. We have distributed interested participants' forms to the students in the classroom to register themselves to join the Advance Wikipedia Workshop. The support and participation of the students were really satisfactory because more than 35 students showed their interest to participate in the advanced Wikipedia workshop.

We tried our best to organize an advanced aggregate Wikipedia workshop event aggregately with interested students and for that reason, we are delayed to submit the final report in time. The colleges are still closed and we are restricted to organize an advanced aggregate Wikipedia workshop due to COVID cases and safety health measures. To be very frank, We are still thinking to organize an advanced aggregate Wikipedia workshop because we are committed to interested students from our Wikipedia sessions.

Learning

edit

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

— Team coordination and rapport with college administration help to organize the events on a tight schedule.

  • What did not work so well?

— Time and schedule because of the ongoing Pandemic age.

  • What would you do differently next time?

— More events to train the students about Wikipedia at a separate workshop.
