Presentación I am running for the Board because I feel I can bring significant positive growth and pervasiveness to the Wikimedia Foundation's projects and create viable self sustaining businesses which will result in jobs and markets for the Wikipedia Community and it's members. I am a self-made person with significant resources, financial, intellectual, and technological to share with the community to promote the fine work done with Wikipedia and in support of promoting it to the outside world. I will be receiving my Doctorate in Computer Science in April of 2007.

I fully support the GFDL goals and those of Wikipedia.

I have been a Computer Scientist for 25 years, and am the creator of the SMP NetWare Operating System for Novell which transformed the Computer Networking and Internet Markets. I have created numerous companies in the field of high tech and have achieved enormous success in my career. I hold four patents in the field of computer science, several of which defined and created commodity multiprocessing technology for the masses. I have served as the Chief Scientist of Novell, Traxess, Solera Networks, Timpanogas Research Group, and have significant contacts in the financial community and educational communities. I have the ability to simply walk into the door of over 100 high tech venture capital firms accross the US and ask for project funding and walk out the door with solid comittments and a check in my hand. I have created thousands of jobs and to date based on companies I have created or contributed to; my work and technology contributions have grossed over 10 billion dollars during my career.

I have a background in both hardware and software design, and prior to Novell developed 3270 IBM Mainframe hardware and software for Memorex Telex, IBM, and other large high tech companies.

My platform:

  • Create and Develop deployment programs for Wikipedia Content Usage in General Business, Education, and Language Preservation Programs;
  • Found and Develop Revenue Generating Models around Wikipedia Content which will enhance and promote it's pervasiveness to the Outside World;
  • Create viable business models that result in jobs and real world opportunities for Wikipedia contributors and key providers, turning what they love into something that can sustain them and their great passions with Wikipedia and translate into real dollars to allow folks to achieve their dreams of a world where information is pervasive and free;
  • Cultivate partnerships with Outside Groups in the Business World and Education and create viable relationships to ensure Wikipedia becomes a credible platform for education and learning with long term viability and economic and organizational clout;
  • Eliminate the Foundations dependence on outside funding sources by giving it a real stake in real-world business opportunities that will ensure long term growth and stability for its operational expenses.

Hobbies: I am a classical pianist and harpsicordist. I also built harpsichords (plectra and all) in the late 70's and tuned and repaired pipe organs in the late 1970's. I have perfect pitch and have composed several symphonies which were perfomed at NTSU in the late 1970's, and during my teen years I had a fascinating relationship with Scandanavian Composer Howard Hanson of the Rochester (Eastman) School of Music, who would spend hours on the phone with me from Texas reviewing my manuscripts and helping me learn symphonic composition prior to his death. I played my first televised recital on PBS in 1977 in Dallas, Texas. I sing and performed in Opera in the late 1970's prior to moving to New Mexico to study Nuclear Engineering studies. I joined the United States Army in the early 1980's and served overseas in several capacities. I hold the Army Commendation Medal, and am a member of the Gourd Society as a decorated veteran. I sculpt and paint, and also make a variety of native american crafts, including native pipes. I also play the Alto Saxophone, flute, and pipe organ (Prelude and Fugue in G by Bach is one of my favorties). I also love sushi and Japanese quisine. I ride horses as well, as my mother was a professional horse breeder in New Mexico and I grew up on the back of horse. I speak Cherokee and English and some Tewa and Uto-Aztecan. I also speak German as I was stationed in Germany for a period of time in the early 1980s and learned German. I am married to a German Citizen from Stolzberg, West Germany. I have four daughters, a 2 year old son (who understands German, Cherokee, and English), and 6 grandchildren. Music has been the greatest avocation of my life, next to my children, which I treasure above all wealth. I was born with Neptune conjuncting my Midheaven, which might explain some of the more bizzare circumstances and opportunities of my life, which has been a surreal adventure (and has not ended yet).
