Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Archive/Tabs are the new accordion
Tabs are the new accordion
Does not require engineering resources
- Problem: Accordions are so last century
- Who would benefit: Readers
- Proposed solution: From a personal point of view, those accordion sections in the Navboxes are hideous and frankly, out-of-date. From a UX and UI point of view, tabs are way better when it comes to arranging content whether in Navboxes, tables or even infoboxes. Editors should at least have the option to choose between using accordion or tabs to cram large amounts of information in a tiny space. These tabs can be placed horizontally or vertically depending on the amount of content. EDIT: Not just Navboxes and infoboxes but also the body of an article as shown in the GIF.

- I'm not sure what you mean. Is it not worth the engineering time or is it? Also, I edited the proposal so that tabs can be included in the articles themselves. This could come in handy when you have medium bits of information that are repetitive but related. For example, multiple teams within a certain contest. Omar.idma (talk) 08:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- There already templates with tabs in most of the wikis. Some more developed and nicer, others less developed and uglier. However, this is not a task for the Tech team, but rather aesthetic changes that can be done by editing the templates with the code editor within your home wiki(s).
