Central Notice admin comments edit

  • @Pyb, Luc Hervier WMFr, and VIGNERON: I've created the campaign and banner (preview). I'm a little bit confused by the long campaign duration; usually we only approve campaigns for two to four weeks. In the banner text, I can also read about the contest time between 15 August and 27 September—why is it necessary to start the campaign on 1 July? I've reduced the diet to 5 displays every two weeks at max. Please clarify, take a look at everything and ping me for activation. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 09:48, 9 May 2024 (UTC) PS: Nice to see that you my massmail system was mentioned in one of the PDFs. There is another new tool available now, maybe take a look at this one too.[reply]
    @DerHexer: yes, the campaign for the banner is long because the contest is long. We also would like to let people know in advance ; especially as with summer vacation the traffic is a bit lower and also to give the opportunity for people to take pictures in advance (some events that are in the scope of the contest happens only during summer).
    Displaying it less often could be a solution, maybe we can also start a bit later (July 15 for instance ?) and ends a bit earlier (20 September) and increase a bit the diet?
    Feel free to ask all the questions you need. Cheers, VIGNERON * discut. 10:39, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    I agree with DerHexer that such a long campaign period is not ideal – especially as the campaign targets both logged in users and readers (who cannot opt out of banners). Running it with a reduced diet might be ok though. Note that per CentralNotice/Usage guidelines#Campaign implementation long campaigns usually require community consensus. @VIGNERON: I've changed the duration accordingly. Are you okay with the white background? I had to change it because the white background of the logo didn't look good on the general grey background of the banner. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:31, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @DerHexer: perfect, thanks! Cheers, VIGNERON * discut. 13:29, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Okay, I've enabled the campaign. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:15, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
